About the Schueders

Jesse and I met in 2003, and were married in 2006. Shortly after the birth of our daughter, Jesse enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. As an active duty Marine, Jesse was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. It was here that we fell in love with the weather and the people of the South.

We moved back home when Jesse’s active duty was over, but we didn’t last long in Iowa before we felt the want to move back down south. (Seriously, how do you live where the air hurts your face in the winter???) On the recommendation of a friend, we started looking into Eastern Tennessee and discovered McMinn County. We instantly fell in love with the people and the region. This has been by far, the best thing we’ve done for our family.

It didn’t take long during our search for a forever home, before we found it. Just over 5 acres, with a pond, and the dream started to take shape. Our vision for Rocky Pond is to be able to provide as much organic, homegrown, homemade food as possible for ourselves, and our family. It started with chickens, and the farm just grew from there.
